Hypertension Cause Blurry Vision?

If we talk about hypertension, the first thing we will usually think of is the possibility of getting more dangerous diseases such as stroke or heart disease. In fact, in reality, hypertension or high blood pressure can have an overall adverse effect on the body, including in terms of affecting eye health.

According to one study, it was stated that those with hypertension tended to be more susceptible to macular degeneration, a condition that causes damage to macular cells, cells that are in the part of the retina that have a major effect on visual acuity. This is caused by the ability of high blood pressure to make blood vessels become more rigid, thereby affecting blood supply to the retina. Retina that does not get enough nutrition and oxygen in the blood eventually degenerates or aging.

If you experience macular degeneration, you can experience symptoms such as blurred vision or even asymmetrical vision. Sufferers will also find it difficult to walk straight or read clearly. The problem is, this health problem cannot be cured. Even though the eye has been operated on, it is not certain that vision can return to normal.

Seeing the existence of this fact, if we have a family history of high blood pressure problems, it should be very clever to maintain blood pressure in normal conditions so as not to experience hypertension complications such as macular degeneration. Apply a healthier lifestyle such as managing a healthier diet, exercising more diligently, always getting enough sleep, and managing stress better so it is not prone to hypertension.
